Czar wins silver medal at iwpa championships |
|
Czar was invited to traveled to greeley last week and competed against the best that the international weight pull association had to offer.. He beat out other gold medalists from past years and had to settle for second place amongst the big bad bully breeds. In the past when I called him to the finish line he would just yelp back at me when he thought he could not pull the weights. Now he is driven and bangs away t his harness for the entire 60 seconds unless I ask him to stop and rest a second or two just to get his strength. Then he bangs away again like he will never give up. He also had to compete in very non-husky environment. 18 Hour ride to greeley, which is about 6000' altitude, 70 degree sunny day on a outside track built on a baseball diamond, wind gusts of about 20 to 30 mph blowing sand into the air and onto the track. It was a very proud day for his handler. Annette and I were in tears of joy to see him medal for the first time. You could see the joy was on czars face as well. Thank you all for your support and interest. We have one more bit of good news...
The downers grove ice arena is going to help me build an outdoor track to practice on right outside their back door. So now we all can benefit from czar's success and begin weight training this summer for next year's competition. I will let you all know when we can start.
