Xena first met Mike & Deb at a Memorial Day barbecue. She had spent most of her first 6 months in a crate because her owners couldn’t be bothered with her. When they had a baby, even the crate was too much trouble and they decided to dump her at Animal Control. Friends and relatives who felt sorry for the poor dog were trying to find her a good home so she wouldn’t have to go to there and brought her to the barbecue. When Mike & Deb saw what a wonderful demeanor she had, they couldn’t resist, and the young Siberian Husky named Princess got a new home and was renamed Xena, the Warrior Princess. Always eager to please, Xena showed herself to be alert and intelligent, and in January of 2006, she earned her CGC (Canine Good Citizen) from the AKC. Xena is still young and very exuberant, yet gentle with young children. Her favorite pastime is roughhousing with her adopted Siberian brothers, Zorro and Zak. Xena was a natural at dogsledding, quickly proving herself to be a capable lead dog. She now shares that position with her brother, Zak.
